I’m a UX researcher in Menlo Park, working with the Ads Measurement team. I’m interested in understanding how users in all parts of the world perceive, manage, and use Facebook toward various business-related goals, and how those goals change based on local and global contexts. Prior to joining Facebook, I was a research scientist in Doha, Qatar at the Qatar Computing Research Institute. I studied how Gulf Arabs interacted on and with social media, and the reinterpretation that took place based on cultural expectations in conservative Muslim cultures. I earned my MA in Linguistics and my PhD in Technology, Media and Society from the University of Colorado Boulder.
