Richard Szeliski

Research Scientist

Rick joined Facebook in the Fall of 2015 as one of the founding members of the Computational Photography team, whose mission is to delight users through innovative photo and video experiences based on cutting edge computer vision and graphics technologies.

Prior to his current position, Rick worked for twenty years at Microsoft Research where he managed the Interactive Visual Media group. He also worked for six years at the Cambridge Research Lab of Digital Equipment Corporation, as well as a number of other industrial research organizations.

Rick is an Affiliate Professor appointment at the University of Washington, where he co-advises Ph.D. students and has occasionally taught courses. Rick has also authored one of the most popular textbooks on computer vision. His professional affiliations include Member, National Academy of Engineering, and Fellow of the ACM and IEEE.
