I research creation and communication at Instagram, focusing on Instagram Stories and the emerging nature of ephemeral sharing on social media. Before coming to Facebook and Instagram, I led user experience research, design, and development at GoHealth, an online health insurance shopping platform, and co-organized ChiDUXX, a professional networking group for Chicago women in UX. I authored the chapter “UX Strategy” in 2016’s The UX Careers Handbook and I was named to Crain’s Chicago Business Tech 50 in 2014. I have a special interest in conversational UI design and speech technology from my time designing and building speech interaction systems. I hold a PhD in linguistics and cognitive science from Northwestern University.
