I am a User Experience Researcher at Instagram whose work focuses on understanding how to make it easier and more enjoyable for people who use Instagram to connect to the interests and the people they care about. I am formally trained as a sociologist and received my PhD in sociology from Brown University. For my PhD, I conducted a multi-year ethnographic study the effects of urban housing policies on disenfranchised communities in Bangalore, India. This work sparked my love for ethnography, and qualitative research in general, and I have since worked as a qualitative researcher for a range of clients in diverse sectors. I am passionate about applying this research training to understand and address complex social and product challenges, with the ultimate goal of making the world a better place.
