I joined Facebook as a user experience researcher in January 2016. Prior to that, I worked on my PhD in human-centered computing at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where I also earned my master’s degree in 2010. For my dissertation I explored the design of context-aware mobile social matching systems, helping people make meaningful new connections while on the go. My work is published at venues like TOIS, CHI, CSCW, RecSys and GROUP. During my PhD I’ve interned with Telekom Innovation Labs (Berlin), Motorola Mobility (Chicago), Google (Mountain View, CA) and Facebook (Menlo Park, CA). I also have a BE in information engineering from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany. In 2008 I moved from Germany to the US as a Fulbright Fellow.
