Jerry Ma

Research Engineering Manager

I joined the FAIR lab in 2018 after a wonderful machine learning internship at Facebook in 2013. In between, I was a security and privacy researcher at Purdue University, working with Ninghui Li on smart grid privacy and statistical password modeling. I also served as a tech lead on Quora’s ranking team and ran a bustling ML consultancy.

My research interests are in economic theory, security, and AI. Within the latter, they lie anywhere in the intersection of deep learning and large-scale practical impact, but they are particularly developed in reinforcement learning and optimization.

In 2018, I earned an AB in economics and the classics from Harvard University.
