I am currently a UX Researcher working on the (very cool) Pages team. Before joining Facebook I had the humbling opportunity to build a consulting firm called ideas42, which specializes in taking academic insights from behavioral economics to design solutions to large-scale social problems (example projects: reducing water waste in Costa Rica and reducing dropout rates in US community colleges). We also placed an importance on rigorous, academic-style analysis of our designs, primarily using randomized controlled trials (RCTs, essentially a euphemism for A/B/etc tests). Back in the day, I studied economics and specialized in behavioral economics at the University of Pittsburgh.
