Douwe Kiela

Research Scientist

I have been a research scientist at Facebook AI Research (FAIR) since 2016. Previously, I completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge, with a thesis on grounding natural language semantics in perceptual modalities. As an undergraduate, I studied philosophy and cognitive artificial intelligence. I also have a master’s degree in logic and an MPhil in advanced computer science. My primary research interests lie in natural language semantics and improving language understanding by taking advantage of additional resources.

Interests

Natural language processing, semantics, grounding, computer vision, deep learning and artificial general intelligence
