I am a research scientist at Facebook AI research, with a focus on developing better deep learning algorithms. In particular, I am interested in improving how models learn without explicit supervision and also how to better optimize these models. Prior to Facebook I was completing my PhD with Yoshua Bengio at the University Montreal, where we kept warm using the heat of constantly running GPUs. My work during this time received a distinguished paper award at NIPS 2011 and we have won two international machine learning competitions (UTLC and EmotiW).
