I am the Director of Facebook’s Computational Photography Research group, joining Facebook in the Fall of 2015. I am also an Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington and a Advisory Board member of the UW AR/VR Reality Lab. I arrived at Facebook after 21 years at Microsoft Research. Previously I served on the faculties at Princeton and Cornell Universities.
The Computational Photography Team at Facebook was formed in 2015 to build new ways to share photos and videos on the social media platform, including allowing Facebook users to experience new AR and VR technologies on their mobile devices.
I received the SIGGRAPH Achievement Award in 1998, and in 2007 was inducted as an ACM Fellow. I am also a longtime ACM SIGGRAPH volunteer, and play a key role in the organization: leading the prestigious awards program at the SIGGRAPH conference each year.
