Vanessa Oguamanam is a first-generation Nigerian-American currently pursuing a PhD in computer science at Georgia Institute of Technology, where she is being co-advised by Dr. Betsy DiSalvo and Dr. Neha Kumar. Her research interests lie at the intersection of wearable computing, educational technology, and the intersectionality of race and gender. In particular, she is interested in the exploration of designing wellness wearables that promote cardiac health and data literacy for women of color. She holds both a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Maryland, College Park. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland.
