Facebook 2017 Emerging Scholar Program Application Now Open!
The application for the 2017 Facebook Emerging Scholar Program is open. Designed to identify promising doctoral students and support them in their research efforts, the Emerging Scholar award is also specifically designed to support talented students from underrepresented minority groups pursuing their PhD’s while delivering innovative research.
Available to first or second year PhD students who are members of an underrepresented minority group in the technology sector, Emerging Scholar recipients studying computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system architecture, or a related area will be awarded tuition and fees for two years in addition to a two year $37,000 annual stipend and up to $5,000 a year in conference travel funds, and a potential opportunity to intern and collaborate with Facebook researchers.
“Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected. To help achieve that mission, we are committed to supporting underrepresented minority groups in technology,” said Hogan, program manager for Facebook academic programs. “The Emerging Scholars Award program is a first step towards supporting these students as they achieve their research goals and we look forward to collaborating them as they continue to contribute to the technology industry.”
Applications will be evaluated based on the strength of the student’s proposed research and their recommendation letters.
The Emerging Scholar application opened November 1, 2016 and closes February 28th, 2017, 6pm PST.
